Ben Franklin has reached casting! You can see his arm and legs going through sand casting after it was poured in wax.
The next step is bronzing the sculpture. Bronze bars are heated to a temperature of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit! This process takes an hour to heat the bronze, and less than 5 minutes to cool. The pouring of the bronze will happen in another week.
Once he is cast, it will go off to welding and metal chasing, where workers grind down the seams so it looks like it was never in separate pieces.
